Filtering is an important concept to understand when you're using Sentiments+.
- Filtering is a way to narrow down what stamps you see within Sentiments+ by groups of pre-defined descriptions.
- There are three distinct groups of filters within Sentiments+: Category, Text Style and Block Size.
- Within each group, you can select one or more items from a filter dropdown.
- You can also select two or more items from multiple filter dropdown groups. For example, you could select one item in Category and three in Text Style.
- In Sentiments+ we use checkboxes to indicate if a filter item is active or not. An empty, white checkbox is shown, the item is inactive. If a dark gray box with a checkmark inside is shown, this item is active.
It's also important to understand these key facts about how filters work:
- With only one filter item active, you will ONLY see stamps that match that item. For example, selecting "Birthday" will only show items tagged with "Birthday."
- With two or more filter items active (including across groups), you will see stamps that match ANY of the items. For example, if "Birthday" and "Kids" are both checked, you will see sentiments that are categorized as either Birthday or Kids.
- As you activate more filter items, you number of stamps you see will grow smaller.
- As you add more filters, it's possible that no results will be displayed, especially if you're activating items with a smaller number of stamps.
- If no stamps match your filter options, you'll see a message letting you know. You can try removing some filter items or clicking
Clear
to reset your view.
- Inactive filter checkbox: Your view will NOT show items in this category.
- Active filter checkbox: Your view WILL show items in this category.
- Active filter count: The number in this small circle badge indicates the number of filter items selected. It will change automatically each time you add or remove a filter item.
This animation shows how selecting multiple items within filter groups changes the user interface, including how the indicator number changes:
